Effluent from the agrochemical industry comes from Process wastes, Chemical sludge (containing residue pesticide), Date expired and off specification pesticides, etc.  Agrochemical industrial wastes are so toxic that they inhibit the microbiological processes involved in the treatment system. Agrochemicals for example, Herbicides from the nitro aniline group are highly toxic for humans. Its environmental effects are very hazardous. These chemicals require high intensity treatment to be removed from effluents. Conventional methods are not sufficient for this treatment; hence oxidation process is used as the tertiary treatment. For biological treatment, aeration tank is used which reduces COD/BOD level. Normally, typical effluent treatment is used to remove solid suspended particles etc. In addition to this, for further reduction of pollutants in effluent, high pressure wet oxidation process is used. This process is followed by ion exchange. Sludge from nanofilters, high pressure wet oxidation and ion exchange is sent to sludge deposition. The characteristics of discharge effluent vary, depending on the product manufactured, the materials used in the process, and the other process details. The typical characteristics of discharge effluent for agrochemical industries are listed in the table below:

The applications of HyCator® reactor at effluent treatment plant are listed below:

  1. HyCator® MBD increases the digestibility of the effluent in UASB digestor and aerator by breaking long-chain / polymeric/ refractory compounds and thus, reduce the COD and increase the Biogas production. HyCatorTH:MBD can also be installed in the inlet effluent streams (High load) / neutralization tank or recycle stream of effluent, if any.
  2. HyCator® OLM ensures the energy efficient, precise, microlevel, online mixing even at very high flows. It will help to reduce the chemicals in neutralization and subsequent processes.
  3. HyCator® DOB increases the dissolved oxygen content in aerator tanks as compared to conventional surface aerator or diffused aerator and also, increases the activity of microbes by de-flocking them. Thus results in reduction in sludge generation, hence, very less load on clarifiers and less solid disposal issues.
